Review about The Watchmaker, Windsor
The Watchmaker’s store is filled with interesting curios but they are all overpriced and suggests they are there more for the atmosphere than to be sold. I have a luxury brand watch that has sat idle in my drawer for several years and it needed a battery. I took it to The Watchmaker and explained I didn’t want to spend very much as I hadn’t used it in years and may not wear it often. He quoted $50 to replace the battery and pressure test it as I waited. After waiting for over 30 mins he reported that it had failed the pressure test and would like to refer it to his boss. I agreed but restated that I didn’t want to spend much money. After a few days he called back to inform me it needed a new crown wheel at an extra cost of $80. I declined and asked him to just replace the battery only. He flatly said “NO” they would not put a new battery in the watch. I dropped in to collect the watch and ask for an explanation and I was taken aback by the bad attitude as they had already branded me as a trouble maker. I pressed for an explanation and he have an apathetic response and although I was not happy I agreed to pay the extra. He made me sign a makeshift contract on the back of his business card agreeing to the extra cost. When I collected the watch he stated the total was $180 to which a reminded him $50 + $80 is $130. After much mumbling with his boss they agreed to the $130. I will not be returning and warn others of their lack of customer service and respect.
