Gumnut Grove Child Care Centre has operated since 4th November 1985 as a long day care centre catering for children 6 weeks to school age. We aim to provide educational and stimulating programs for every child in every age group. We have 2 large indoor play areas as well as 2 large and exciting outdoor play areas for your children to play and grow. Both rooms have staff qualified with Diplomas in Children's Services and the Butterfly Room also has an Early Childhood Teacher employed to run the Preschool program giving your child the best head start to school possible. Our cook who has completed specialist courses in food and nutrition for young children, provides meals daily including morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack, all made from fresh produce bought locally. Message from the Director My name is Meghan Pratt and I am a qualified Director with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I am a mother of 2 children and have been working in the child care industry for 20 years, and as such bring to Gumnut Grove a great range of knowledge and skills in caring for and educating young children. Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Young is centrally located in the Young CBD, within walking distance to schools and local business. We cater for children from eight weeks to five years of age. We have been operating in the local community since January 2006, and many of our educators have been with the centre since it first opened. Our centre communicates with families via face-to-face conversations, notice boards, newsletters, and family information nights. We provide displays of children’s work throughout the centre, and also maintain a children’s interest book which is filled in daily. Our centre is always open for families to visit. Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre. We offer primary caregiving in our younger rooms and educators transition with the children to maintain the development of secure attachments. Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school. Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our two play areas have sandpits, garden beds, rock garden, digging pits, vege patches a pergola and lots of shade. Our qualified on-site cook provides fresh, nutritionally balanced meals, and nappies are included. …
