Topical application of Chamomile preparations and varicose eczema. the early 1980’s, 95% of 2477 general practitioners described good tolerance and therapeutic efficacy obtained from a Chamomile cream in the treatment of eczema. treatments decreased inflammation for a reduction in the level of topical corticosteroids used. for eczema, Chamomile cream demonstrated superior activity to a non-steroidal antiinflammatory agent (5% bufexamac) and a steroidal preparation (0.75% fluocortin butyl ester), but was similar to 0.25% hydrocortisone. Chamomile preparations have been successfully used for the topical treatment of nappy rash.
