Dr. Alicia Masters is the principal acupuncturist of Essentially You Healthcare and holds a Doctor of Chinese medicine. Alicia was inspired to study Chinese medicine after suffering a debilitating back condition. In 2007 Alicia was encouraged and supported by her family to undertake a Bachelor of Health Science - Acupuncture, a four-year degree, where she graduated with distinction. During her studies she completed over 300 hours of practical training and has been mentored by Chinese medicine practitioners across Gippsland and Melbourne. Alicia is passionate about Chinese medicine, in particular, the practice of acupuncture, and its ability to stimulate the body to heal itself. Alicia believes in the importance of holistic, evidence based medical interventions, focusing on the root cause of disease. Alicia has developed a passion for Chinese medicine’s ability to influence emotion and mood, directing focus to mental health, and also chronic pain and conditions. This has led Alicia to devote time to volunteer her practice to Windana Drug and Alcohol Service’s Community Clinic.
