Our History Tewantin-Noosa RSL & Citizens' Memorial Club Inc ABN The Buchanan-Ross families founded the Tewantin RSL Club as an RSL Club in August 1920. The Club was used as a meeting place for returned service personnel and a meeting place for local gatherings and functions. In 1967 the Clubhouse was destroyed by fire and rebuilt increasing in size. In 1969 the Tewantin Noosa RSL was formed and was still used for the same purpose. On 21 September, 1981, the Club commenced operating as the Tewantin-Noosa RSL & Services Club. With the help of a sympathetic bank manager a bar and dining room were built. In 1989 the Club extended the building to offer a larger dining room, bar and a lounge for entertainment. Stage 1 was completed in 1996 and was named the Tewantin-Noosa RSL & Citizens' Memorial Club Inc offering two bars, a larger bistro seating 100, a gaming area and an entertainment lounge. The Club quickly became the "hub" of community activities and the need to extend was obvious. Stage 2 was completed in 1998 bringing with it four bars, a TAB, a bistro seating 200, a coffee shop, a larger gaming area and an auditorium capable of seating 250. In 2002 the Club underwent a refurbishment internally and externally giving it a fresh vibrant appearance. The Bistro capacity and Gaming capacity needed expansion and in 2004 further refurbishments were undertaken to relocate these facilities. The result was a bistro capable of accommodating 270 and a gaming area with comfortably spaced 134 machines. The latest refurbishment undertaken to the Bistro and Coffee Shop was in 2010 resulting in a contemporary Bistro and intimate Coffee Shop along with menus offering fresh fine fare.
