I was on holidays recently south of Coffs Harbour when I was locked out of my Toyota Hilux. The remote didn't work and the key would not fit into either front door to unlock manually. I had to get NRMA to break in to open the doors manually from the inside. I then could not lock my car. The guy from NRMA said he had never experienced where the actual key would not unlock the door manually and thought somewhere along the line the ignition key must have been change so as not to work with the door locks. As this happened Friday night I drove up to Coffs Harbour Monday morning and Darren the operator there said straight away that he believed the key would not work in the lock because it would have been worn in the ignition and never used in the doors (used remote only) My remote device had a short so he had to make up a complete new key assembly. He came with me to the car (about 200 metres) and made sure all ok. The new key worked in the doors and the remote worked. Darren was so helpful and his expertise and willingness to help were so much appreciated.
