Tip 1: Possible pool leakage:
If you suspect that your pool is leaking place a bucket filled with water on a pool step (weight it down with a rock or brick). Mark the water level on both the inside and outside of the bucket. The starting points should be about the same. Check the mark 24 hours later. You may have a leak if there is a greater drop in the line on the outside of the bucket as that compared to the pool water level.
Tip 2: Ideal pool water levels:
Make sure the water level in your pool is only halfway up the skimmer box. Overfilling the pool stops the skimmer from working efficiently and wastes water.
Tip 3: Regular swimming pool maintenance:
Regular manual cleaning of the pool, skimmer box and other collection points will reduce the load on the filter and also reduce the need to backwash.
Tip 4: Pool Surroundings:
If using trees or shrubs for a windbreak, be sure to choose non–deciduous or evergreen plants and keep them neatly trimmed to reduce the amount of plant debris that could end up in the pool.
Tip 5: Pool covers:
Install a pool cover to save water, chemicals, heat, energy and maintenance efforts.
