FAQ:

What is the difference between a hot tub and a spa?.A hot tub is a large tub or small pool full of heated water and used for pleasure or hydotherapy. Some have jets for massage purposes. In contrast to a typical bathtub, a hot tub is designed to be used by more than one person at a time and is usually located outdoors. Also, the water is not changed with each use, but is kept sanitary using similar methods as swimming pool sanitation. Hot tubs are sometimes also known as spas or by the trade name Jacuzzi.

Tip 1: Shower before entering the spa:

Detergents and body lotions generally cause water to foam and bubble. Showering before entering the spa usually helps.

Tip 2: Draining a spa:

That a simple way to drain a spa, is by connecting a garden hose to the tap, putting the other end in the spa, then turn on the tap for approximately 30 seconds. Next, turn off the tap, unscrew the hose, and let it fall to the ground. Water should be flowing from the hose at this point created by a natural siphon.

Tip 3: Refilling your spa:

When refilling your spa with new water remember to place hose in filter pipe (to help eliminate air blocks).

Tip 4: Spa water quality test:

A water quality test kit is a necessity. Because warm water aids in the growth of bacteria and algae, owners should regularly test the water. A test kit can determine: pH level (acidity); total alkalinity; and calcium hardness.

Tip 5: Replacing spa filters:

Portable spa filters should be replaced yearly – In-ground spa filters, every two years.
