Australian Winery in Gippsland Victoria We produce low preservative, & preservative free wines, low sulphite wines & natural wines that reflect the intense flavours unique to the area. Our range of wines includes red wines (Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Merlot - Cabernet, Syrah / Shiraz, Rose & Petillant Naturel Syrah), white wines (Chardonnay & Semillon) & sweet wines (Botrytis Semillon). We make small quantities – 30 to 200 dozen – of wines that suit our soils and climate, and that we find interesting. Gippsland Wines are distinctive. They are flavoursome with strong varietal features. Generally they are not mainstream Australian wines, more full flavoured than full bodied and more elegant than harsh. They are good wines to accompany foods. Nicholson River Winery has been voted nine times the ‘favourite white wine’ for the Nicholson River Chardonnay at the former “Exhibitions of Victorian Winemakers”. Wine reviewers such as James Halliday, Robin Bradley and Huon Hooke have also been great supporters over the years. Our wines are largely sold cellar door and online via our web site. The Nicholson River Winery Cellar Door is open Wednesday to Sunday 10-4pm. Please phone ahead for group bookings. We also offer wine tastings at our Cellar Door, Local cheese and antipasto Tasting Platters, Wine & Cheese Matching Classes & winery tours & our Barrel Room is available for functions & weddings. Nicholson River Winery welcomes group bookings and functions & we can caters for events, conferences and functions. Both our indoor and outdoor spaces provide fabulous views, no matter the weather.
