Stephen: sharp shooter, surfer, gardener I began in the media and communications industry and quickly realised photography was where my heart lay. After refining my craft at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne I began photographing for corporate and not-for-profit clients drawing on both my photographic and communications talents. I continued to get photography work through word of mouth and referrals, and along the way met my now wife and business partner, Melissa. I grew up in Ocean Grove so it was an easy decision to move back from Melbourne to Geelong in early 2011. That’s when D’Arcy Photography was officially relaunched and we expanded our horizons to include wedding photos and family photos. Our approach has been and will always be two-fold: stunning photography combined with personal service and communication with our clients. When I don’t have a camera in my hand I’m having a surf at Ocean Grove. Melissa: storyteller, beach dweller, chocolate mousse maker I’m a highly experienced journalist and have interviewed movie stars, princes, prime ministers and Olympians. But it’s always been stories of ‘ordinary’ people and exploring what makes them special that floats my boat. A few years ago I decided to fuse my love of storytelling through words with another form of communication - photography. I joined Stephen in the D’Arcy Photography journey (and also the journey down the aisle in 2013)! Throughout my journalism career I learnt how to relate to people from all walks of life. I notice everything because it’s the piecing together of the finest details that really illuminates a story. When I’m not taking wedding photos, family photos or photographing for a corporate client, you will find me trying my hand at whipping up desserts, on a Bellarine beach or catching up with friends for a glass of bubbles and a laugh.
