Riverland Vine Improvement Committee Inc (RVIC) is a fully self funded non profit organisation. All funds generated from the sale of vine material and wines are used to increase knowledge and improve supply of quality progagation material. Objectives Identify the clones with high health status and performance Promote interest in, and improve knowledge of new varieties Produce and supply improved vine material to meet the changing requirements of the grape industry RVIC continues to grow and extend the services provided to the Australian Grape Industry supplying vine material to all states except WA. Background Vine nursery established in 1983 30ha of rootstock source blocks (McCreanor Block) initially planted in 1989 at Monash New vine processing depot built at Monash property in 1995 1998 - Record sales of 7.4 million cuttings 40ha of scion source blocks (Cirami Block) initially planted in 1999 Laboratory and virus testing began in 2000 A variety collection initially started in 2002 7 new clonal trials established in 2003 Rootstock Trials established in 2005 Small lot wine making began on site in 2008 DNA testing commenced in 2009 Website presence started in 2010 Wine sale to the public began in 2011.
