History The Bellevue Hotel first opened its Paddington doors as The Elphin Hotel in 1880. This was at a time when rifle shooting was a favourite Australian sport, with many young men coming to the Bellevue after a stint on the Paddington Range. Some seventy years later, it received its first major overhaul, with the addition of a ladies parlour, making it one of the first female friendly hotels in Sydney, and one of the first to embrace excellent pub dining. In 1955 the terrace house next door was added to the hotel, to create the double terrace space of today. Today Now, the Bellevue Hotel brings locals, sports fans, and diners together in a welcoming, exciting, and friendly way. With restaurant, TAB, gaming, cocktails, and al fresco areas, Paddo’s Local is perfect for all occasions. Located on Hargrave Street on the border of Woollahra and Paddington, within walking distance of some of Sydney’s most iconic sporting grounds and landmarks, including the Sydney Cricket Ground, Allianz Stadium (SFS), Randwick Racecourse, Moore Park and Centennial Parklands, the Bellevue Hotel is a favourite with both sports fans and locals.
