Lane Cove Early Learning Centre is situated in a picturesque, traditional house that has been renovated to accommodate busy, growing bodies. Learning is enhanced by using the features of the house in creative ways, such as the beautiful wooden decking that doubles as a performance stage! There are a variety of outdoor spaces for the children to enjoy, from playing together in the sandpit to quietly exploring a book in the shaded garden. The children love playing with a variety of materials, from clay, glass and tiles to pebbles, stones, wood cuttings and tree bark. They enjoy discovering the different properties of the materials and so we incorporate them into their daily learning, like counting with pebbles or creating formations on paper using leaves and tree bark. From visiting the local library to helping us buy vegetables from the local grocer, we want to ensure the children feel a part of the fantastic community around us. We also love welcoming special guests into the centre to teach us about sports, gardening and recycling. Our qualified cook prepares fresh, delicious home-style meals on site. Families also have the opportunity to incorporate some of their favourite recipes into our menu. New families are encouraged to tour the centre to learn about our daily routines and curriculum, as well as the resources we have available to help develop their child's interests. You can also meet our enthusiastic Educators who will be happy to share the approach they take to educating the children. Once your child is in our care you can keep track of their learning through their individual books, which are updated with art work, stories, letters and observations. Families are a huge part of what makes our centre great, and they are encouraged to come in and share their hobbies with the children, teach them about their culture, or simply join in with daily activities.

We at Nurtured Education & Care strive to provide an inclusive, safe, warm and loving environment that cares and protects young people. We promote forward thinking by believing children grow, learn and develop with encouragement and mental stimulation. We aim to provide a home away from home that is inclusive to each child’s development and needs. Embedded in our program are four key voices – the child’s, guardians, community and educators. A transparent relationship with the child’s micro and macro world will enable us to understand their thoughts and emotions and guide them to be the successful learners they are destined to be. We combine these voices to formulate high-quality care and education that is driven with the children. All voices are documented and extended on, against the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. It is through this that we form a Nurtured Curriculum. We acknowledge the need for play–based learning and its ability to captivate a child and create a stimulating environment. Therefore, it is through play that we enforce our program and it is through play that we observe, document and reflect on how children individually respond. Children are challenged through the process if investigating, problem solving, interacting and listening. We believe in exploring effective communication, creativity, curiosity and confidence – all which is customised to their interests, needs, abilities and diversities. Our curriculum provides a respectful and supportive partnership with families and the community that focuses on communication. Relationships with families will begin the moment they enquire about the service, and will continue until their transition to school.
