With the help of Northern Skills Alliance, Mr Quaid has been trying to return the historic cemetery at the former site of the Daintree Aboriginal mission. The former Assemblies of God mission was purchased in 1962 by a cane farmer, who banned the traditional owners from visiting the property and allowed the ground to become overgrown and unmarked. In 2007 Mr Quaid purchased the property and announced that the traditional owners could once again visit the site and that he would pay for the handover. Mr Quaid was finally able to subdivide the land after he and Northern Skills Alliance Chief Executive Officer John Fraser spent close to seven years trying to cut through the bureaucratic red tape. At 11:00am on Wednesday 25th September 2013, the Minister of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs, the Honourable Glen Elmes, officiated the handover of the cemetery to the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation and the Kuku Yalanji people.

The Rsl Cairns Sub Branch is highly regarded for its great atmosphere, friendly staff, and clean premises. Customers have praised the delicious food, especially the steaks and roasts. Veterans receive excellent support. The location is considered a quiet oasis with an interesting menu and good prices. Apunipima Cape York Health Council emerged out of a health conference held at Pajinka Wilderness Lodge, near Injinoo, in 1994. The conference was attended by representatives of 17 Cape York communities and associated homelands concerned about poor health status of Cape York Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Apunipima was officially established on 14 September 1994 as a health advocacy organisation, mandated to inform the Cape York Land Council and the ATSIC Regional Council about health issues on Cape York. In the two decades since its inception Apunipima has grown from a small advocacy organisation to the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in Queensland. With over 150 staff, offices in Cooktown, Mapoon and Coen, the Mossman Gorge health centre and the Kowanyama Mums and Bubs clinic Apunipima is continuing with its mission to eliminate health inequality on the Cape. Apunipima is now the largest community controlled health organisation in Queensland and delivers a comprehensive primary health care service to 11 Cape York communities. This service includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners, outreach midwives, podiatrists, audiologists, physiotherapists, dietitians and nutritionists, diabetes nurse educators, paediatricians and GPs. Apunipima adheres to a family centred model of comprehensive primary health care which sees clients as people embedded in families and communities. In 2006 a Deed of Commitment to transition health services in Cape York to community control was signed by Apunipima, Queensland Health, Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Far North Queensland Rural Division of General Practice, Queensland Ambulance Service and the Department of Health and Ageing.
