We believe these dance forms offer the tools that can go beyond just artistic expression and performance to also support our mental health and well-being, improve our social connections, initiate personal, collective and spiritual growth, and has the power to create real, positive social change. The dance forms our dancers primarily practice include Jamaican Dancehall, Afro Dances and Hip Hop, and we do so with a duty to not just teach ‘moves’ but to share the history, social and cultural context of the dance we teach. We acknowledge and inform our students and audience about the individual dance creators and their communities for the creative contributions they have made to dance as an art form. We see our ability to learn these dances as a privilege and one that must always be done respectfully, giving back financially through fundraisers and other initiatives as an ongoing element of our organisations activities.
