Orion Solar was formed in 2004 to supply a range of solar powered LED lighting solutions for commercial applications throughout Australia. To launch the company Orion teamed up with Carmanah Technologies of Canada, pioneers in the manufacture of lighting solutions for the tough, mission-critical applications of the aviation and marine industries. Initially Orion concentrated on the supply of aids to navigation for coastal and inland waterways, runway, taxiway and other lighting for remote airfields, obstruction lighting for towers and cranes and various road traffic beacons. Over the years, the advances in solar panels, LED luminaires and our own energy control systems has opened the market for outdoor solar lighting of all kinds, including street lighting. This now represents the largest market for Orion.
