George’s Canvas was established by George Stellino in 1975. Commencing as a small business operation, we specialised in fabricating and repairing truck tarps and general canvas and synthetic products. As a result of tougher laws and regulations, all bulk transport vehicles required load covering. We developed a focus on this demand for the tipper industry. George’s son Mark joined the business in 1994 with the aim of learning current operations and expanding the business. After developing the unique skills in industrial textiles, Mark focused on combining these skills with metal work fabrication. By this time, some 15 years ago, the increase in OH&S alongside further EPA regulation led to the introduction of automated covering systems on tip truck bodies. To compete in the tipper truck market, we proceeded to supply the industry with these new forms of covering systems. Over years of fitting standard system types, we began to concentrate on formulating a design to improve the functionality, appearance and longevity of our systems. Once the system was developed, we introduced the Auto-Tarp brand, seen on our business logo. As we became a complete manufacture of our covering systems, we were able to quickly recognise and improve any aspect of our system design. Today, we continue to lead the industry in design and innovation in automated covering systems. We are a complete manufacture of our systems, from CAD design through to manufacture and installation.
