PEPPERCORN ARTISTS GROUP The Peppercorn Artists Group ( ) was established in 2004 by a group of local artists to re-open the Peppercorn Gallery in Richmond as a co-operatively run outlet for their work. The aim of the group was to maintain and uphold the long-standing reputation of the gallery as an outlet for fine art and craftwork, but with a Tasmanian emphasis. of the group share the costs and time involved in running and manning the gallery, which allows to have their work on show without a gallery mark-up, as well as having time to produce work. It also gives members a venue for experimental and creative work, without having to produce an exhibition body of work. The PAG has regular meetings to manage the operation of the gallery on a democratic basis. One of the main agenda items at these meetings is to consider requests for consignment with the most important criteria being that the article is original, locally-made and of high quality. The gallery now stocks the work of approximately 40 other Tasmanian craft artists. Our consignment craft work is not sold elsewhere in Richmond Village. Most visitors comment on the quality and the uniqueness of the gallery. 1st Day - 29 Feb 2004 In February 2006 PAG celebrated its 2nd anniversary having grown from 5 initial members to a stable and highly cohesive group of nine. 2007 saw changes in the group memership with the departure of Angie Cooper, one of the founding members and long term members Helen and Paul Johnston. 2008 saw a series of changes with the departure of Long Term Members - Tess Fletcher, Derek Emery and Michelle Reid and Short Term Members, Yvonne Griffith, Oliver Strutt & Jessie Ralph and Deb Wilmot. However, replacement members have embraced the group's ideals with enthusiasm.
