NPAQ campaigns and lobbies for the preservation of existing National Parks in their natural condition and the reservation of new areas identified as deserving National Park status. We have been pursuing this agenda since our inception in 1930 and have, throughout our history, successfully contributed to the establishment and protection of the current Queensland National Park estate. The NPAQ also encourages people of all ages to enjoy and appreciate our National Parks and other wilderness areas. National Parks are recognised as places where people can experience various health benefits as well as enjoy what nature has to offer. NPAQ has an active calendar which brings people together to enjoy our parks through bushwalking, camping, boat trips, guest speakers and a range of events and social activities. Being involved with NPAQ not only provides invaluable support to our campaigns and various programs, it is also a great way to meet other people who are interested in the environment and to share experiences in Queensland's Protected Areas. With an office based in Milton, Brisbane, the NPAQ staff and volunteers work together to coordinate its campaigns and programs. This is overseen by a Council that is elected by the membership at our Annual General Meeting. NPAQ is a non government, non party political, not for profit organisation, and is part of the National Parks Australia Council a network of state-based community organisations seeking protection of natural areas. NPAQ defends National Parks and your right to have them.
