After purchasing the old club house from Surfers Paradise Bowls Club for the sum of 150 pounds the building was cut in two and transported to Mermaid Beach and placed on concrete stumps at a cost of around 2000 pounds on the current location at Markeri Street on Mermaid beach. That made that start of the Mermaid Beach Bowls Club. MBBC was one of the first clubs, north of the border to plant to sow the three greens with Tiftdwarf grass, in line with a move throughout the Gold Coast.
