It’s for eligible children aged 2-17 years that provides up to $1,000 in benefits to the child for basic dental services.The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a dental benefits program Run by Australian Government to assist children with their Oral Health.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule replaces the Medicare Teen Dental Plan from 1st January 2014. So hurry up and enjoy Medicare Teen Dental Plan benefits before it expires on 1st January.
What Dental Services are covered Under My Child Dental Benefit Schedule?
Services include examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, extractions and partial dentures Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
When are patients assessed as eligible?
The Department of Human Services assesses a child’s eligibility from the start of each calendar year and sends a notification to the child or the child’s carer. This notification may be done electronically, or in the form of a letter, which may be presented by the patient to the practice. Most children will be informed of eligibility at the beginning of the year.Dentist will also assess the eligibility of patient for CDBS.
Who is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
Child must be eligible for Medicare and the family must be in receipt of Tax Benefit Part A or receive one of the following Government payments.

Disability Support Pension
Parenting Payment

How long will I be Eligible for Dental Benefits?
You will eligible throughout the each calendar year.
For how long can I receive the benefits?
Once approved you will receive benefits for 2 Consecutive years.Your 2 year period commences at the start of each calendar year.Example: if your First Appointment date is 1st Jan 2014 you will be eligible for benefits from 2014 till end of 2016.
Can I use my $ 1000 Benefits Whenever I want to?
Yes you can,You can Use it in one year if Necessary or over the period of 2 years.If you use it in First year you will not be awarded any additional benefits for 2nd year.If you do not use it over the period of 2 years the benefits will not be carried over to next year.You cannot use it in future.There are some Limit on Number of services you can receive under this benefits
