The new standard ISO9001:2015 is more in sync with modern business practices , processes and systems. It has decreased the focus on documentation of procedures and increased the focus on how things get actually done.
The other main difference is that it talks about leadership and this goes to the heart of the management system that unless the CEO takes an active interest and leads from the front things the intentions of the Standard will not be met.
