The Karate Queensland Open Championships were held over the last weekend in
Brisbane. Seven IKD warriors for this tournament were Dustin, Delara, Diba, Damine, Dana, Zac, Brittney and Jake.
We had a fantastic start to the weekend at the QLD Open. Well done to our IKD juniors who brought some fantastic results on Day One:
Dana: Gold in Kumite, Silver in Kata
Zach: Silver in Kata, Gold in Kumite -38kg and Gold in kumite +38 kgs
Jake: 2 Bronze medals in kumite
Brittany: Silver in black belt Kumite, Bronze in Kumite
Damine: Bronze in kata
Diba: Silver in Kumite
This was the third major QLD competition before the Australian National Championships, and our students did well to start the competition off with a bang. Thank you to our IKD volunteers Anna, Rachel, Terry for assisting at the desk and to Dustin and Daria for helping to run the competition by refereeing.
Day two of the competition was a great success for IKD-Australia. Well done to Dustin for winning gold in U21 kata and gold in U21 Kumite.

What a weekend for IKD-Australia! We had 7 athletes and finished with a total medal tally of 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. This put IKD-Australia in the top 4 out of 21 competing clubs.
