The South Lakes Golf Club was the first development of its kind in Australia to completely integrate a holiday/residential community with a golf course. From humble beginnings in 1966, the Club has grown to have the largest membership base of golf clubs in regional South Australia. Sited in the middle of the Goolwa township, the Club is readily accessible to motels, caravan parks, holiday rental homes and the Marine Cove Resort. The South Lakes Golf Club is an associated member of Golf Australia, Golf SA, Golf Management Australia and the PGA of Australia. These peak golf bodies govern the way we play and promote the sport in Australia. 
South Laske Golf Club is praised for having golf courses in excellent condition with well-manicured fairways, bunkers, and greens. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, especially the pro shop. The course is a great day trip from Adelaide, with good drainage and an easy walk. Some visitors have had difficulties with staff unhelpfulness, allocations of buggies, and unexpected price changes.
