Financial Advisor Near Me

17 September 2021

Don't do it.

Please don't use the search term, 'financial advisor near me'.

It is just not an acceptable basis on which to choose your financial planner. Search for an 'independent financial planner'. Search for 'best financial planner' (but be aware of the paid sites which simply compile numerous names and businesses). Or search for 'financial planner reviews'. Or monitor financial planning media articles.

Just don't search for 'financial adviser near me'. The reason is because your financial planner is someone you will confide more to than any other professinal adviser you have. They will know about your finances (accountant information), your health (doctor information), your estate planning wishes and any marital issues (lawyer information) as well as your personal aspirations and goals in life and those important retirement years.

A trusted financial advice relationship is far too important to base simply on location. You only meet with a financial adviser once or twice a year, drive a little. Just like you would to a specialist doctor. Even if you are in a country town, please don't just automatically use whichever financial planner happens to also be in the town. With software like zoom and microsoft meetings you can even meet electronically. Western Australia is a very big place, and I have clients whom I have not met in person. Some are from the very bottom of the State whilst others are up the top.

I know that everyone has their unique way of searching on google. And I get a search for 'postbox near me' or 'petrol station near me' is appropriate. I respectfully ask you to consider whether a serach for 'financial planner near me' is appropriate too.
