Wilderness Expeditions is an Australian trekking operation that conducts overnight and extended treks into Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) and Cape York forests and wilderness areas. Our Donkey pack teams carry your gear, good food (cooked on open fires), wine, beds, tents, tables and chairs so you can sleep and eat in comfort. We specialise in getting off the beaten track following the routes and traditions of early explorers, prospectors and drovers. We provide connecting transport to the start of our treks from Cairns or Atherton Tableland centres.
Our treks allow you to gain a greater understanding and connection with the Australian bush, to find lost stock routes, abandoned pack and coaching roads and experience the romance and challenges of working with larger draught animals.
Treks can be as short as one day, or as long as three weeks, enabling you to learn of the region's earliest explorers, rock-art, geology, mining history, see flora and fauna, practice bush-skills.
