United Martial Arts & Fitness (UMF Academy) is a leading martial arts and self-defence academy in Garbutt, Townsville, providing structured training for children, teens and adults in a safe, supportive and professional environment.

UMF offers a complete range of martial arts programs including Wing Chun Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai, Boxing/Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Street Edge Krav Maga. Our academy also provides dedicated children’s programs including Little Dragons for ages 4–7, Young Warriors for ages 8–14, BJJ 4 Kids, Boxing/Kickboxing 4 Kids and MMA 4 Kids.

For children, UMF goes beyond simply teaching martial arts techniques. We focus on developing confidence, discipline, respect, resilience, focus, responsibility and positive behaviour. United Martial Arts & Fitness is the only martial arts academy in Townsville licensed to deliver our specialist Character Development System, helping students develop valuable life skills alongside their physical training.

For teens and adults, UMF provides practical martial arts, self-defence and fitness training designed for complete beginners through to experienced students. Whether your goal is to improve fitness, build confidence, learn practical self-defence, develop striking or grappling skills, or become part of a positive martial arts community, our instructors provide structured training and clear progression.

UMF is veteran-led and has been serving the Townsville community for many years. Our experienced instructors place a strong emphasis on quality instruction, safety, discipline, respect and developing skills that students can carry into everyday life.

We also provide school programs, community training, seminars, self-defence workshops and specialised martial arts programs for families and organisations throughout Townsville.
