Tractor Boxing, Hendon, SA

The Boxing Club Tractor was founded on First of April 2009. We started in a garage in Fulham. The garage was 15 square metres in size. There was space for just two boxing bags and three people. More and more people came along, and pretty soon, the place was simply too small. In September 2009 we moved to our first “real gym” on Henley Beach Road. Starting there we had much more space and we were able to install a small boxing ring. In this time came young guys, they trained in different other gyms before. They were really surprised about what we do. “You are a real boxing teacher” they said. “Were we trained before, the trainer just let us hit the back and then go in the ring for sparring” they told me. After another year, in September 2010 the old gym was to small again. We were really happy as we found the new place in Tapleys Hill Road. It is a perfect place to run a boxing gym. The gym is 240 square metres. It is equipped with everything that a professional Boxing Gym needs. The founder, owner and trainer of the Boxing Club Tractor is Carsten Bergner. He started to learn boxing at the age of 11, in 1977 in East Germany. They all trained for the Olympic games in Soul 1988. It was an experience that would shape his life. One of them won the gold medal in Soul 1988. Carsten’s best result was the bronze medal at the East German Championships. Since 2007 Carsten Bergner has held an Australian Boxing Coach license, and has been dedicated to coaching boxing in South Australia.
