Aged 21, Kevin Stanley established Stanley automotive in 1981. Having been trained at a major dealership he set out to provide quality automotive repairs and servicing at competitive and reasonable prices.
Opening at Smithfield the business expanded into its current location and in 1983 brother Trevor joined the operation. It has developed to provide more specialised services including high quality high-performance engine building, late-model vehicle log-book servicing, inboard-boat servicing & maintenance. Kevin developed specialist tuning skills and carried out extensive carburettor servicing and development work, which underpins their expertise in caring for modern fuel-injected vehicles. Having a personal interest in competition they ventured into Drag racing and established themselves as builders of engines and support engineering in drags, speedway and power-boat racing over many years. Teams relying on their engines have achieved many successes and high reliability – a trait not often seen in motor sport. This connection with high-performance development has built relationships with high standard machine-shops, suppliers and technical knowledge.
