We offer specialist, fear free grooming services for double coated breeds with a particular interest in Spitz breeds. Pomeranian, Japanese Spitz, German Spitz, Keeshond, Samoyed and Husky are among the most common Spitz breeds. They are typically characterised by pointed ears, a curled tail, and a profuse coat.
Many groomers recommend shaving the coats and/or they use inappropriate stripping tools which damage the coat.
At Spitz Groom, our philosophy is to avoid shaving at all costs, and instead we much prefer to take the time to work through any issues with the coat without the need to shave the coat (assuming this is not distressing for the dog).
We also pay a great deal of attention to owner-education and provide owners with information on how to care for their dog’s coat in between grooms, as well as offering a range of specialist tools and products. For those owners wishing to learn more than combing basics, we offer customised training sessions.
Many dogs have had bad past experiences with groomers, and we encourage owners to contact us to discuss any concerns. We are very gentle and patient with the dogs regardless of temperament and we never sedate the animals.
