Two things that I believe are important in medicine, beyond good training, are experience and empathy. Experience comes from many years of clinical practice. Every person and every situation is unique. There is no limit to acquiring wisdom in medicine. Empathy is innate for most people, but a range of life experience, I have been practising in central Sydney for twenty years and have worked hard to most from their time in my care. Of course my practice is more than just me; I am never averse to drawing on special skill sets that complement my own. I am also well supported by my valued practice manager, Sarah, To ensure that I can provide optimal care by not being “spread too thinly”, I confine my work close to home and rooms the Mater and Genea. I spend most of my professional time I also have an interest in women’s health services in the Pacific region. Life outside medicine includes time with my wife and three children, creative writing and bad golf.
