I've noticed since last year (22) I've been followed and watched while trying to shop. I stopped carrying my usual oversized hand bags but it still happens.... carrying only a plastic zip lock bag tied to my wrist - still happens. Phone only - still happens... Front counter staff are generally pleasant though
the prices are more inline with Facebook marketplace/eBay/depop etc....no longer affordable for those in need, instead catering to those who want/can afford the trendy sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
