Vision: supporting a profitable, sustainable and resilient primary industries sector Rural Business Support (RBS) is the new name for Rural Financial Counselling Service SA - changing in 2011 when services were extended to include a Projects Division. Built on the foundations of the familiar and trusted Rural Financial Counselling Service (2006) we will continue the invaluable service to farmers and other primary producers (such as fishers and market gardeners) and small rural businesses in financial counselling whilst also offering a range of farm business management services to a broader range of agricultural businesses. The Projects Division collaborates with government and industry to deliver projects that support a strong and resilient primary industries sector. Importantly we will continue to assist primary producers to better manage change and adjustment. Rural Financial Counselling has since supported over 8, 500 individuals and families who have suffered financial difficulties. Professionally trained and empathetic counsellors are based in the regions and offer a free, confidential and independent service in cash flow, succession planning and referrals just to name a few. The Projects Division provides strategic financial business management, educational and advisory programs. Its clients are primary producers, fishers and small rural business owners who are at risk of financial hardship or are experiencing a short-term business downturn. Projects are developed on a needs basis and are dependent on external funding support from state and federal governments and other agencies. RBS works closely with all of its clients to plan for the future, to be better prepared for climate variability and manage through period of economic difficulties.
