Recon Projects is a Canberra-based commercial fit-out and construction company delivering projects across the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding New South Wales regions. We work exclusively in the commercial space — partnering with operators, designers, consultants, landlords, and government bodies to deliver fit-outs that meet operational, compliance, and commercial requirements.
Our Sectors
Recon Projects delivers fit-outs across four core sectors. In hospitality, we build cafes, restaurants, bars, and food and beverage venues designed to handle the operational demands of a live trading environment — including commercial kitchen integration, mechanical and exhaust services, food-grade finishes, and front-of-house design that reflects brand identity. In retail, we deliver storefronts, shop fit-outs, and customer-facing spaces built to reflect brand identity, drive foot traffic, and comply with tenancy lease requirements common across ACT shopping precincts. In medical, we deliver clinics, consulting suites, allied health spaces, diagnostic imaging facilities, and specialist care environments built to strict infection control, accessibility, and regulatory standards. In office and workplace, we deliver full tenancy builds, refurbishments of occupied workplaces, and staged renovations that balance functional, cultural, and operational requirements for tenants and asset owners.
Beyond the core four sectors, we have delivered multi-site infrastructure programs including the ACT Government Container Deposit Scheme rollout and large-scale educational facility remediation across 30+ ACT and regional NSW sites.
Our Methodology
Backed by 25+ years of collective industry experience across the leadership team, Recon Projects operates a four-stage delivery framework designed to give clients clarity across the full project lifecycle. The Align phase covers scope definition, budget validation, site assessment, and stakeholder identification, surfacing constraints and risks early before design or construction commitments are made. The Design & Detail phase coordinates designers, architects, consultants, and trades to develop construction documentation, services coordination, compliance documentation, and procurement schedules, prioritising constructability review before site mobilisation. The Deliver phase covers on-site execution — project management, trade coordination, safety management, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication through to handover. Finally, our Staying Partners phase reflects our view that handover is the start of a relationship, not the end — we provide ongoing support, defects coordination, and partnership for clients planning future stages or additional sites.
Recent Projects
Recon Projects’ recent and ongoing work demonstrates our cross-sector capability and our ability to operate under tight programs, in live environments, and across multi-site rollouts. Home Brew Cafe & Bar in Wright is a dual-use hospitality fit-out designed to operate as a cafe by day and bar by night from the same footprint, delivered from cold shell in a fixed 10-week program. Ultrasound CBR in Bruce is a diagnostic imaging clinic fit-out coordinating consulting and imaging rooms with strict infection control and accessibility compliance. Specialist Care Centre in Deakin is a 4-week, after-hours medical refurbishment within a live, operational medical centre, delivered to a fixed pre-Christmas completion deadline. The ACT Return-It Container Deposit Scheme program is a multi-site infrastructure rollout across 8+ ACT locations, with each site delivered within approximately one-week installation windows in active public environments. The ACT Government Educational Facilities Remediation Works program covers 30+ government educational sites across the ACT and regional NSW, delivered within 48-hour or weekend shutdown windows to ensure learning environments are operational before student return.
Accreditations and Credentials
Recon Projects holds ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management) certifications. We are a Master Builders Association ACT member, an IICRC Certified Firm, and registered under the ACT Government’s Secure Local Jobs Code — a requirement for ACT government procurement. All works are delivered NCC compliant and to the relevant Australian Standards across each sector.
