RB Communications P/L was founded in 1990 by Ray and Judy Barnes, since that time the business has become well established in Charters Towers, located approximately 140km inland from Townsville, North Queensland. Charters Towers is an historic country town which had a thriving gold mining industry during the later half of the nineteenth century. During the 1980's the gold mining and base metals mining was revived. The area also has a well established cattle grazing industry. Since starting the business we have installed 27 UHF CB repeaters in the Northern area of Queensland. With the arrival of the Analogue Mobile Phone System locally in the early 1990s RB Communications became a Telstra Mobile Phone Dealer and have continued since then seeing the introduction of the GSM, CDMA and now NEXT G Mobile systems. Our business focus is on the supply of Radio Communications and Mobile Phone services to the Rural sector as well as local North Queensland towns and Mines. Simple Telemetry systems for the Rural Sector developed by GME Electrophone are also supplied and installed.
