Whenever I’m near the top end of Bourke street I make sure to check out the new releases in Play. I’m especially interested in the blu-ray titles, which are often marked down by a considerable amount within a month or two of release. The collection of box sets is also always worth a look, and the new release wall across from the counter often has discs just out in JB Hi Fi at markedly reduced prices. The staff are friendly and helpful, and while the discount shelves (which contain the really marked down stuff) are a bit of a struggle to look through as they’re only in loose alphabetical order, you can sometimes find something worthwhile inbetween the more dubious titles. It’s not my first stop when I’m after a specific title as they don’t have everything and it’s hard to predict what they will have, but I’ve collected a lot of DVDs over the years and a lot of them have come from Play.
