Philip Dudleigh Walker, the founder of the firm, commenced business in Sydney in the late 1920’s. The firm traded under the name of P. Walker until the 1950’s when Peter Dallas Walker, the son of Philip Dudleigh, entered the business. The name was changed to Peter D. Walker & Co in 1972 when Brent McLauchlan, who had been employed by the firm since 1962, joined Peter Walker as a partner. Lewis Waters was admitted as a partner on 1st July 1974 having been employed by the firm since 1968. Mark Kennedy, having commenced his accountancy career at the firm as a trainee from 1974 until 1979, merged his sole practice into the firm on 1st July 1994. At this time the name was changed to Peter Walker Partners to reflect the new constitution of the firm and also to pay tribute to Peter Walker (who had employed all of the current partners) who had passed away in 1992. Traditionally the firm has conducted its business in the heart of the City of Sydney, but has clients spread across the greater metropolitan area of Sydney as well as country areas, interstate and overseas. The firm is a founding member of the Premium Wealth Management Group, a licensed Securities Dealer. The Group has in excess of one billion dollars of funds under management for its clients and is one of the few non institutional Financial Planning Dealer Groups operating in Australia.
