About the Area Nestled on four acres of waterfront headland in the southern Tasmanian village of Woodbridge, Peppermint Bay has commanding views across the d’Entrecasteaux Channel and north to Mt. Wellington. Set against a backdrop of the lush rolling hills of the Huon region, this award-winning building sits comfortably amid green lawns and shading trees, the ideal venue for a family outing, a quiet lunch, party, wedding or corporate event. Just a short 35 minute drive South from Hobart via the picturesque Channel Highway, or by water on our luxury high-speed catamaran, Peppermint Bay is jewel in the crown of this stunning region of Tasmania. The area was first explored by Bruni d’Entrecasteaux in 1792 and was settled in the early 1800s by timber cutters, whalers and sealers. To the north is Oyster Cove where the few remaining Aborigines who survived the Wybalenna settlement on Flinders Island were moved in 1847. The village is surrounded by small farms producing high quality food products, craft outlets, vineyards and an array of other attractions. Things to Do The focal point for visitors in Woodbridge is Peppermint Bay restaurant, along with Woodbridge Hill Hand weaving Studio and Gardens, Grandvewe Sheep Cheesery, Fleurty’s café and farm walks, and a variety of bed and breakfast and guest house accommodation options. Woodbridge is the ideal base for exploring the Channel and Huon Valley regions, and of course Bruny Island. The Bruny Island ferry terminal is just a few kilometres north. The area produces apples, pears and stone fruit and there are a variety of vineyards dotted along the coast and the hinterland.
