Our bills are drawn with the objective of justifying individual items on their face, with sufficient detail so as to facilitate settlement and preclude unnecessary objections or reviews. Sketchily drawn bills are often reduced on assessment/taxation or, due to errors of omission, concede costs unnecessarily. A busy assessor or taxing officer does not always have time to read into a file, particularly if the matter is complex. Our policy is to pinpoint vulnerable areas in a claim for costs and to provide necessary advice.
Particular care is given to the drawing of disbursements. Often these are neglected, however they usually represent a substantial proportion of the costs being claimed.
As with all legal documents, presentation is important: especially as the document we prepare on your behalf bears your firm’s name. We take particular care as to both the content and appearance of our documents.
