Past Connections Antiques has grown immensely from its humble beginnings when Helena began trading in 1972, in a small shop called Jacobeans in Paddington. Over the past 39 years Helena's passion for antiques has evolved into a sophisticated Antiques Gallery, now conveniently located 5kms from the CBD in the lower north shore suburb of Mosman. Passing her passion for antiques to her elder daughter Jessica, the mother and daughter team has proved to be a dynamic duo, opening a number of outlets since, including a shop in the iconic Sydney Antique Centre, the Great Australian Antique Centre and later Woollahra Galleries. After Woollahra Galleries closed down in 2003, Helena and Jessica took on a new venture, opening a two-storey premises Past Connections in Mosman. Ross, Helena’s husband also joined their labour of love around this time, managing the move from Woollhara to Mosman, Ross is now an indispensable element of the Past Connections team. Their Mosman premises offers an emporium of rooms, spread over two levels and encompasses a broad cross-section of English and European furniture and porcelain, glass, Australian pottery, commemorative wares and a comprehensive range of silver plate pieces. The shop walls are adorned with original oil paintings, watercolours, early prints and engravings, ranging in age from the 19th century to contemporary works. The expansive range of distinctive pieces also include table lamps, Victorian writing and jewellery boxes, bronzes, carved ivory statues, a range of taxidermist specimens and rare mammoth ivory carvings.
