OzPress commenced operation as K&K Fasteners in 1970 in a converted parachute-drying hut at the Ballarat airport. During the early seventies the business expanded and spread into an adjoining aircraft hanger, which housed the industrial metal presses. The demands of international competitiveness saw the business relocate in 1989 to a new purpose built factory on the newly developed Wendouree Industrial Estate. As the business grew and in recognition of our changing goals and manufacturing capability in 2005 K&K Fasteners began trading as OzPress Pty Ltd. Historically, K&K’s customer base has been predominantly within the Australian automotive industry. K&K have supplied to AMI, then to become AMI Toyota, and now known as Toyota Australia since the mid seventies. Other customers include Hella, Metalsa, Toyoda Gosei and Denso. Today, Toyota Australia is OzPress’s largest customer, purchasing a range of small metal automotive components including seat hinge assemblies via Kanban. OzPress is also a major supplier of pressed and assembled components to Victa Lawncare, this iconic Australian company which supplies domestic and commercial lawnmowers throughout Australia and to the world. At OzPress we are enthusiastically pursuing new manufacturing philosophies like “Lean Manufacturing”, “Visual Workplace” and “5S+1” which are now being actively promoted within the business, and these philosophies are being implemented with great effect. Today OzPress employs over 30 people and enjoys sales of over 8 million dollars annually, all this while still remaining a family owned company with a firm commitment to both local and Australian manufacturing.
