Independent Practitioner Network Pty Limited (IPN) is one of Australia’s original founders of corporate general practice. The company was established in 1999, as a small group of medical centres known as Foundation Healthcare.

In 2002, the company was renamed as IPN. After a strong period of growth as an ASX listed company, which included the acquisition of Endeavour Healthcare and Gemini Medical Services, IPN was acquired by one of Australia's largest healthcare companies, Sonic Healthcare Limited in 2008. Sonic is the third largest diagnostic service provider in the world, and the largest in Australia, and IPN today stands as Australia's largest operator of medical centres.

In 2010, IPN strengthened its occupational health footprint, acquiring Prime Health Group, which is now known as Sonic HealthPlus.

In 2012, IPN further expanded into Victoria through the acquisition of Allied Medical Group which focuses on providing accessible healthcare to large, local patient bases.

In 2013, IPN's ability to offer after-hours GP home visits has expanded with the acquisition of Australian Locum Medical Services (ALMS).

The IPN network now includes over 220 modern, multidisciplinary medical centres located around Australia which facilitate over 10 million consultations per year. We are now also the trusted business partner of over 1, 800 dedicated General Practitioners, and employ over 3, 000 healthcare professionals.
