Surprised, 5 years ago

Unbelievable! Having integral knowledge of the Auto industry I write this. Everytime my partner booked in for a standard service some major fault would be unearthed magically. Ok this time knowing the car barely needed a basic service we get a call as usual stating some major repair is required on this occasion a radiator replacement water pump and cooling system. I go to consult with them. The two young mechs don't realise I turn up to see them carrying on like childish larrikans. When they see me there somewhat embarrassed they excuse themselves. Not good. The cooling system was working well not a leak not a drip nor any leaks over time on the clean new garage floor. No leakage inside the cooling no rusty water at all but clean green coolant as I observed any times on a standard check. Anyway they state that a pressure test as a routine check was done. I believe enough pressure was administered to cause the fault of as they initially stated was coolant spraying out of the top of the radiator. Now when I looked at the bonnet and surrounding areas no evidence of prior fault could be seen. Looking under the vehicle I see a brown puddle now interestingly enough no trail off like a drip looked much like straight rusty water no green at all. Looking in the radiator they didn't like me pointing out the water level was still high. In fact clean green coolant. I discuss this without devulging my experience. I am made to feel that the motor could fail at anytime and it was dangerous to drive. A car that was pretty well operational cooling wise without any loss or over heating. The hefty price is explained so I advise I will return later in the day to either pick the car up or authorizer the work. 3pm try calling as arranged the phone line is unavailable when the call is taken they say we had to get it off the hoist due to other work so I say we'll be there in a minute to pick up, declining this they say give us an hour. Not liking this I proceed immediately to the site where they have the car out front and are messing around BUT there is profuse leaking and a huge pool of water underneath and around the car. When approached to merely remove the vehicle the seemedly pray soon the emotion of my partner bringing her to a state of panic and upset because the car is unsafe and not driveable. This is rubbish. They try to then state the cooling system was stuffed and should we take the car they can't be responsible for the motors failure which they gaurantee will occurr. Further when I become forward about just taking the car it is then the attack on myself and why I am acting as such and what did I just say that becomes the focus. I am not sure if their was excessive pressure applied to the radiator as a 4 cylinder car vs a let's say V8 but to see the sieve of a radiator left infuriated me. The car was honestly going well as far as cooling goes beforehand. This could be a case of case by case basis as they carry an impeccable rep but all customers see is regardless of any suprise necessary work is a bill to pay and a reliable vehicle. Along the top of the radiator there is no indication of the leak he speaks of telling me I wouldn't notice it as the car when running merely would dry any leak out before it could touch the garage floor. Now let's remember the car when picked up was pouring water out! Ok like the stress test on a patient's heart could cause a heart attack and subsequent urgent surgery for a heart valve or bypass there's a small chance the pressure test caused a leak to occur but the emphasis was on the plastic alloy contruction of it and the age of the vehicle. Are we to assume everything these days is susseptible due to poor quality manufacture? I believe not. A very reliable Kia Spectra from 2012 the car has been driven gently and never done hard work, a lovely little reliable car. Personally I think further pressure was applied to the cooling system during the day and a serious
