Maylands Child Health Centre

I would give 0 stars if that was an option. The turnover of staff seems high as I’ve met a different CHN at every appointment. The first nurse was really kind but her communication about parenting class was poor and she simply just read from the generic pamphlet, something I can do myself. The second nurse was bubbly and relaxed but was quite pushy about a feeding issues which caused issues for us once again listening to another professional who has an opinion. The third was actually really good but didn’t have anything of value to offer us. We’re made to do the mental health questionnaires but when there are clearly issues nothing is done to support. It’s simply a box-ticking exercise. The last nurse I saw got me to sign up to a talk on solids, even though we’ve started I thought there could be no harm. But on the day I got a text it was cancelled because the lady running it was sick. No follow up. Once again, no value! The parenting classes in Maylands are less than Bassendean and were too late to be useful. By the time they started we’d already had to figure things out ourselves. We can’t help but feel like the entire CHN system is just a box-ticking exercise for their statistics and nothing to do with support for parents. I can’t even ring them about a health question about my child cause apparently that’s a GP’s job? So what do you guys actually offer me?!
