Nick Jankovic B. Eng MIE Aust. started his career as a structural engineer at 'The Institute for Earthquake Engineering' in the former Yugoslavia. This region of the former Yugoslavia is known for its very strong seismic activity and in the past 40 years it has had many earthquakes, 3 of which were catastrophic. Nicks main field of interest was in earthquake safe design of commercial and residential high rise buildings, industrial buildings and bridges. After spending a decade in earthquake engineering he moved to Germany where he was for the next seven years, working as a structural engineer, site supervisor and quantity surveyor. His preferences still stayed with high rise buildings, and shifted towards commercial buildings, hospitals and shopping centers. In 1997 he moved to Australia where he has been accepted as a member of "The Institution of Engineers Australia" - Structural college. Since moving to Coffs Harbour in 1997, his main area of work has been in residential houses, having completed different stages of documentation (working drawings and structural design) for several hundred residential homes. Clients have included private investors, owner builders or professional builders. The company was established in Coffs Harbour in 1998 under the name ACS-Advanced CAD Solutions but has changed its name to "Jankovic Design and Engineering" in 2003, when Nick moved to new premises at 42 Moonee Street, where the company is still located. We have been able to keep our rates very competitive because all of our work is done "in house", eliminating repetitive work between the different stages of design from working drawings to engineer`s design. We also engage in standard building inspections (usually pre-purchase inspections) or specific (structural) building inspections. We work closely with foreman, providing inspections and reports regarding damage to the structural parts of buildings and if necessary provide renovation solutions.
