Modern Greek is taught to all year levels (K-6); 20-30 minutes per week in Kindergarten and 2 x 40 minute sessions per week in Pre-primary to Year 6. Traditional Greek Dance is also taught for 30 minutes per week to Year 3 - 6 students. Greek is used throughout the school day, in greetings and basic conversation as well as at formal Parent Assemblies and during key events, such as Greece's National Days (25th of March and 28th of October). The Greek culture, including history and traditions are taught to students at the relevant times in the annual calendar. Conversational Greek is taught in lower primary (K-2), with songs and language games featuring strongly. Grammar-based teaching/learning is introduced from Year 3 up as students learn to read and write Modern Greek. Staff and students are encouraged to use basic greetings in the Greek language during the day with the Principal speaking Greek to them as often as possible. Above all, students enjoy learning Modern Greek and, in doing so, are making tangible links with the English language, improving their grammar and understanding of the way in which language works.
