Passionate about his craft and selective about the work that he takes on, Mark prefers to work with mixed materials such as hardwood timbers, colorbond, fibre cement and ply cladding, steel and glass. The results are visually stunning homes with a very contemporary feel. Initially qualified as a carpenter Mark went on to gain his Builder’s Registration in Coolum, Queensland where he lived for 10 years - a fact which has clearly influenced his ideas on housing. Mark’s forte is his approach in working with the many unforeseen challenges that often come up when building one-off designs. He will approach a problem from all angles until he finds a perfect solution and acknowledges the immense support of his wife and business partner, Julie, and the combined effort of all the tradespeople working with him on his projects as critical to his continuing successes. Prior to establishing M&J Green Builders, Mark gained valuable experience as a Site Foreman for Civil & Commercial construction undertaking a wide variety of projects utilizing the many combinations of reinforced concrete, concrete block, structural steel & timber framing. Projects ranged from residential units, hospital construction & fit-outs, school & university buildings and water retaining structures. Major projects include: Olympic swimming pools (50 & 25m) with all associated amenities, plant room & filtration equipment. Multi level shopping centre & car park complex.
