Goonawarra Medical Centre has been operating since 1982 when Dr. Mahinda Samararatna and his spouse Charmaine, the owners and founded the practice, commenced consulting at 2 The Lakes Drive, Sunbury. They subsequently developed and moved to 1-11 Dornoch Drive in the in 1997 which housed 6 General Practitioners, a well established Diabetic Clinic with an Endocrinologist, Diabetic Educator, Diabetic Nurse Consultant, and Podiatrist and supported by various Consultants, related Health Care Workers and Support Staff. The Centre has been providing After Hour Emergency Services to Sunbury/Macedon Region since 2008. In 2009 -2010 they facilities were expanded and now incorporates a Cardiac Centre, Mental Clinic, Pathology Collection Centre, Pharmacy and Dental Clinic and the Goonawarra Day Hospital. The GP services are “Bulk Billed” during business hours as well as “After Hours”. Some Specialist and Allied Professionals also “Bulk Bill”. The objective is to establish a Centre that will provide and cater for patient needs - “a one stop shop” - restricting travel to Melbourne CBD or other areas for specialist visits, etc... There is information on each of the doctors and their specialty areas and interests as well as other information about the practice on this site.
