Fire & Flow Movement is a personal training studio in Osborne Park, Perth, offering one on one strength and mobility coaching. Every client trains individually with Alex, the founder and coach, in a private studio rather than on a busy gym floor.
Who trains here
Most of the women who train at Fire & Flow Movement are in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Some are coming back to exercise after years, or decades, away, and are surprised by how much of their old capability is still there. Some have never trained in a gym in their lives and have spent a long time assuming gyms were not built for them. Others have stayed reasonably active but have started noticing stiffness in the mornings, aches that did not used to be there, or a quiet loss of confidence in what their body can handle.
What they have in common is wanting to feel strong and move well, rather than chase a number on a scale.
The approach
The coaching is built on two things that work together.
Strength work develops real capability. Not appearance, not a number, but the kind of strength that shows up in ordinary life: lifting a grandchild without bracing, getting off the floor easily, carrying the shopping in one trip, climbing stairs without thinking about it. For women in midlife it also supports bone density and balance, both of which matter more with each passing decade.
Mobility work keeps joints moving through their proper range. Strength without mobility leaves you stiff, and mobility without strength leaves you unsupported. Training both is what allows you to move well rather than just move more.
Coaching and qualifications
Alex is a qualified personal trainer and yoga teacher, and is certified in Matwork Pilates through Studio Pilates International. She also holds training in progressive strength work for people over 50, covering resistance training for older adults, training safely around past injuries, balance and falls prevention, and postural and back care.
That combination shapes how sessions run. Strength forms the foundation. Mobility and mindful movement sit alongside it. Technique is coached carefully throughout, because good movement is what makes training sustainable rather than something you have to recover from.
How sessions work
Because every session is one on one, programs are written for the individual rather than pulled from a template. That starts with understanding a person's history, any past injuries, what they find difficult day to day, and what they actually want to be able to do. Progress is then adjusted session by session based on how the body is responding.
Clients work with the same coach every time. Nothing has to be re-explained, and progress is tracked by someone who has watched it happen.
Services include one on one personal training, strength training, stretch and mobility work, beginner strength for women, strength training for women over 50, training through menopause, return to exercise after a break, movement assessment, form and technique coaching, posture and joint health, bone density work and personalised training programs.
What to expect
There are no lock-in contracts and no minimum commitment. There is also no pressure to look a certain way. The focus is on capability and confidence rather than appearance, and the studio is deliberately a calm, unintimidating place to train. For anyone who has felt out of place in a commercial gym, that difference is the point.
Location and hours
The studio is at Unit 7/44 Hutton St, Osborne Park WA 6017, with street and off-street parking available and wheelchair access. It is easily reached from Herdsman, Innaloo, Glendalough, Mount Hawthorn, Stirling and surrounding suburbs.
Training is by appointment, Monday to Saturday.
