Farmer Johns has been established for over 26 years. The original business at Nuriootpa was very much focussed on animal health and broadacre farming. Over the course of time our expertise has expanded to encompass pasture, viticulture, potatoes and other horticulture. Our business has grown significantly to both cater for the expanded product range and to cope with the increased volumes of product that today's primary producer clients require for large scale enterprises that have become more the norm. Our product offering is backed up by an experienced sales team based at our Nuriootpa retail store. The Farmer Johns technical staff based in the Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Murray Bridge and Kapunda offer an on farm advisory service. Our client base operates in the diverse Central Region of SA and includes winter cropping, pasture and horticulture enterprises in the Barossa Valley, Northern Adelaide Hills and Lower Mid North serviced by our Nuriootpa facility, whilst the Murray Bridge depot caters to the Broadacre and horticulture client base located in the Mid Murray and Mallee and Upper South East regions. A growing portion of our business is transacted on a fee-for-service basis utilising the various crop monitoring packages that we offer. Many of our clients have taken the view that this service is of particular value to their farm enterprise profitability. Our agronomy advisers recognise that the advice they give needs to be relevant - they are local and know the areas that we service intimately. Farmer Johns is a member of the national retail supply business group AgLink. Collectively AgLink members account for over $1 billion in primary farm inputs across Australia. This large turnover gives all independent member stores - including Farmer Johns - a competitive position with key suppliers in all crop segments, meaning compounded profit opportunities passed onto primary producer clients.
